WATER
Sara walked seven kilometres a day to get clean water. At age 13, she was kidnapped from the well and held captive. She finally escaped but will never forget.
BE Water to help kids like Sara.
BE WATER. BE Water funds will go to drilling wells, installing new pumps, and helping families keep safe water flowing to their communities.
Your Choice:
Dedicate your Famine to Water and you will help to drill new wells in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and educate leaders in the community so that they are trained on how to keep safe drinking water flowing. You will also be helping to build irrigation systems in Sri Lanka to ensure that children and families can grow crops as a long-term sustainable food source.
Your Impact
By dedicating your Famine to Water you will help reduce waterborne disease in children and relieve women and young children from having to travel long distances to fetch water by:
- Helping communities protect natural springs from contamination and other dangers.
- Building reservoirs that help communities purify and store fresh water.
- Providing public toilets and bathrooms in family homes.
- Helping create water committees to oversee the water system.
On water:
“The air, the water and the ground are free gifts to man and no one has the power to portion them out in parcels.”
